Valter Bosticardo "Rusticardi" Barbara D'Asti Superiore

For those who remember the wonderful 2003 Rusticardi, their delightment is about to be taken to another level as 2004 is one of the greatest vintages in recent memory for Piedmonte as a region with Parker-rated at 96 points!   

The "Rusticardi" vineyard, one of the most unique in Piemonte, is comprised of 70 year old vines, planted in 1933 (thus the "1993" on the label, not to be confused with the vintage) which offered rich, dark grapes that were meticulously inspected by Valter - in fact only 40% of his crop makes it into this top wine. This wine exhibits a thick robe of ruby red with purple highlights. An explosion of cassis, vanilla and eucalyptus dominate the nose while black fruit, coffee and oak are all present on the palate as a strong tannic structure and rich texture leave an indelible finish. This wine will age effortlessly for 20 years or more if stored properly, however is a great pair to tender meats such as grilled sirloin of marinated lamb.
